Giveaway and shows...

Happy Monday,

As I may have mentioned yesterday I have some more shows on Hochanda today at 1pm, 3pm and 6pm so tune in channel 39, sky 663 and freest channel 822.  Today's card is one I demoed on Friday and is up for grabs today!

If you m,issued the demo here's a quick update on how this card is made.  I stared by cutting 3 squares of foundation card (2 in wisteria and one in coconut white) to 18x18cm and clipping the corners.  Next I embossed the bottom of one of the wisteria squares with the line leaves embossing folder.  I cut the white square using the filigree and bottom die form the Pyxsis Gemini die.  I then added  just the filigree section and cut that to make the skirt look.  This i foam mounted over the embossed layer.

Next I Cut the top wisteria square using the matching outline die so that it is above the skirt piece. (this was much easier to explain when I was demoing it)  I then embossed this piece using the same folder and foam mounted it on top.

For the topper I used the letterpress technique on the deboss die form the Ornate pierced noble design die using Indigo Mist colour cloud blending ink. and cut it out using the matching dies in the same set.  I stamped the sentiment in the centre of a piece of coconut white card and using the debs die as a guide shaded around it using more of the colour cloud.

I foam mounted this over the main card and added a bow in off white double sided satin ribbon.

Ingredients:
Creative Expressions craft die by Sue Wilson
Ornate Pierced noble design
Gemini Pyxsis
Wisteria & Coconut white foundation card
Indigo Mist colour cloud
Live, Laugh, Love clear stamp set from Creative Expressions

Simple Sunday...& More Hochanda Shows News

Happy Sunday,

I'm sure you will all be glad to hear that I am at home today I should be relaxing but I'm busy prepping for Mondays shows on Hochanda!  With the issues on the website etc we are going to show some of the other items that weren't on the shows last week over three hours on Mondays below update for the times etc lol !

Therefore today's card is a simple, yet hopefully effective, Christmas card that would be great for batch card making.

I made a DL card from vintage gold foundation card and added a few layers of white and rich red.  The top layer I added a strip of red and white bakers twine around a couple of times and tied it in a knot.

For the main element I cut the peace on earth sentiment in rich red card.  I then added a light rub of golden light gilding wax across the surface and Olympic gold PVA glue dots on the ends of the swirls.

A simple card made with one die and a few products however easily transferable into any colour scheme!

Update lol Creative Expressions and  Hochnada have asked me to do some shows on Monday as there were problems with the website etc and I know quite a few people missed them!  I will be doing new demonstrations with other items on the show on Monday at 1pm, 3pm and 6pm so tune in on freeview 39, Sky 663 and Freesat channel 822 to view.  You can also watch online at www.hochanda.com

Another day of demoing!

Happy Friday,

I hope some of you managed to cath the opening of Hochanda!  I know there were some teething problems but it seemed to get slicker as they day went on.  Hopefully the show at 8pm (which I have just got home from as I am writing this on Thursday night) went well for you all and that the website will be running for tomorrows shows!

I will announce the winners of the giveaways (don't forget I did offer the same prize on Facebook) later in the week when I get some time!

Todays card is another of the demos I have planned which I promise I won't rush!!

This card is made using one of the stamps to die for and one colour (turquoise Pool) of the new Cosmic Shimmer Colour Cloud blending Ink. The colour cloud has been used for all the shading and colouring on this card which is why I love it so much

Showtime Peaks...and a giveaway!

Happy Thursday,

I really hope some of you can join me today at 12pm for the launch of the new Craft TV channel Hochanda!  I will be involved with the launch party show at 12pm (no idea in what capacity my usual place at parties is in the kitchen with a cloth) after that I will have my first show and launch the One Day Special with a selection of dies by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions that have not been seen on TV before.  As usual I have put together a matching colour theme in the card packs, cosmic shimmer products and embellishments.

Today's sneak peak card will hopefully give you some idea, with the others I have shown this week, of the colour palette I have picked for this show.  I did think that it might be time for some subtle yet bright shades as all I seem to have done recently is Christmas!  The fantastic news is that Sue Wilson has made a fabulous set of samples for the show and these will be very much in evidence so its worth tuning in for those alone!

Back to today's card and this is a classic buckle card with a little twist and again will be one of the demos for the show.  Hochanda are determined to give good demonstrations with loads of tips so I will be able to take you all through the making of this from start to finish (if I can remember how to make it lol)

All the items used will be available as well as all the standard CE products that we use, along with the basics being available on the Hochanda website.

It would be great if you could join me for the 8pm show today or one of the shows tomorrow 9list of all the shows is on the right.

Giveaway! to celebrate the launch I am giving away one of the just released new Christmas mini Striplet stamps ( designed by me) along with a tub of colour cloud and a pack of smoothies!  There are 2 chances 2 win comment on this post and / or like and share any of my Facebook posts today!

Winner will be drawn and announced next week!

Its Snowing...

Happy Wednesday,

Doesn't the time fly I can't believe its time for my Wednesday spot on the Creative Expressions design team again! This month we are focusing on the Snowflake background and I have to say, as can be testified by anyone who has attended one of my demo days, that I am spoilt for choice which card to show today.  This card is a variation of a shaker card as with the background being covered in iced snow then the loose snow falls gently (this really is a card you need to see in real life)

I stared by cutting the snowflake background (with out any of the centre pieces added) in coconut white foundation card.  I left a large bored around the die and added a piece of aqua card, with double sided adhesive added to it, behind the snowflake die cut.  Next I put iced snow all over the piece so that it stuck where the adhesive was, this gives the lovely snowy background.

To make the shaker element of the card I made a frame in aqua card using the background die as a guide for the internal aperture.  I then added a piece if acetate behind the frame and ran foam tape all round the back of the frame so that there were no gaps.  I poured a sprinkling of loose iced snow into the middle of the background piece and stuck the frame over this.

What this does is that the iced snow on the background catches the loose iced snow so that the snow appears to be falling slowly rather than just collecting at the bottom.

The remainder of the back of the card was made with my usual layers of aqua and white to frame the centre piece.

The front of the card, and its effective sentiment, is made by simply die cutting the Sue Wilson treating tree die in aqua card and embossing it.  Its important to emboss this die cut as the letters all have raised areas which you can bring out, as i have here, using pewter gilding wax.

A simple double bow of green bakers twine finishes the front and gives a focal point to this, hopefully, classic Christmas card.

don't forget to pop over to the Creative Expressios design team blog HERE and see what the rest of the team have come up with and if you have time leave a comment! lol

Back tomorrow with a last sneak peak for the Hochanda Shows along with a double giveaway, one on here and another on my Facebook! if you haven't joined my Facebook page then here's fair warning! lol

Ingredients:
Creative expressions Craft Dies by Sue Wilson
Snowflake background
greetings tree
Aqua & Coconut white foundation card
iced snow
CE double sided adhesive sheet
primary set bakers twine.

Another Sneak...

Happy Tuesday,

I hope you all don't mind but its going to be another sneak peak today for the One Day Special on Hochanda on Thursday.  Judging from the comments yesterday loads of you were interested in how the flowers were made and coloured so I thought I would show a card today, again another prepped for demonstration, using another new (to me anyway I'm sure Sue will have already of thought of it) flower.  Well I say flower its more of a background using the waste from making some flowers.

This card is also made with one of the new colours I have in the card pack which is very fast becoming my new favourite the Blue Dusk foundation card ( of course I have made sure we have a card pack on the shows with some beautiful new and sought after colours)  The other shade on this one is, of course, coconut white which I have added to the pack as personally I must have coconut white in stock.  While we are on card I have managed to make another special finishes pack which I know everyone wanted when I last put one together and sold out very quickly, the beautiful ribbed card is in this pack again however this is limited stock!

With regards to some of the comments on the channel and where you can view it you can see it on Freeview, Sky and freesat however it will be available anywhere in the world using the website at www.hochanda.com which will be up and running for the launch at 12 lunchtime on Thursday.

Demo Quickie...

Happy Friday,

I'm at Apple Crafts in Chapel St Leonard's today demoing the new Festive Range of dies from Sue Wilson.  I thought this was a great opportunity to show one of the card I will be demoing.

This card is made with the new Snowflake lattice festive die that was released last week.  I started with a square 18x18cm of cobalt foundation card.  I embossed this with the new stars embossing folder and rubbed enchanted gold gilding wax and polished it off with a wet wipe.  Next I cut 2 of the snowflake borders in coat and layered them, back to back, with a strip of White seam binding and double white strip pearls.  I layered this onto a strip of coconut white and added a border of cobalt and white.  I foam mounted this in the centre of the embossed panel and added this to a card blank at 20x20cm with a few layers of white and cobalt.

Next I cut the largest die in the snowflake set in white card.  I cut the next die in cobalt and finished with the smallest die in the set.  I added white Matt PVA dots to the snowflakes and the word snow which I clipped from the peaking snowflake die set (the actual phrase is let it snow but I nixed the let it!)

I added this to the nibble of the border strip and added a double messy bowed large pearl embellishment.

Ingredients:
Creative Expressions Craft dies by Sue Wilson
Snowflake Lattice
Peaking snowflakes
Snowflake corner, border and tag
Cobalt & Coconut white foundation card.

Creative Wednesday...

Happy Wednesday,

Its time for the Creative Expressions design team project again (aren't the weeks flying by!) and we are using the Festive Collection from Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions.  This month I am using the Snowflake background (the large one not the same as the small one from yesterday)

I started by die cutting the background using in Snow Fibre paper which gives a beautiful textural look.  Next I die cur the smallest oval die that is included in the background set, whilst in the die I shaded the top using Adirondack snow cap white ink pad and a smoothie.  I added hand drawn stars using a silver gel pen.

I mounted this piece in a frame cut form cobalt foundation card and added a wider frame cut in coconut white to give the piece some focus.  I find that by framing your cards It gives some definition and shows us where to look!

Next I cut the winter trees in cobalt and added cosmic shimmer dries clear glue to the branches.  I then dipped them in White ice, one of the glitter jewel range, this is a solid white glitter that has an interference included which means that it sparkles with different colours (in real life) just like clean snow.  I added a few cosmic pearl PVA dots to highlight the snowflakes on the background and the main image was finished.

To finish the card I added a few layers of cobalt and white to make a card blank and mounted the framed element on top.  I finally added a couple of pearl sprays in the corners to highlight the image and finished.

Don't forget to pop over to the Creative Expressions design team blog to see what rest of the team have come up with.  It would be nice if you could leave a comment over there as well by clicking HERE.

Ingredients:
Creative Expressions Craft Dies by Sue Wilson
Snowflake background
Winter Trees
Snow fibre paper
White ice glitter jewels
Adirondack snow cap ink pad
pearl swirls
Coconut white and Cobalt foundation card.

Another Chance!

Happy Tuesday,

I thought I would give, as promised, another chance to win one of my background stamps, I will also include one of the cards I made with the stamp as bonus!  All you need to do to be in with chance is to be a follower and leave a comment on any day this week.  I will include one entry for each day you comment from today until Friday!

Back to today and another of Sue's new release of festive dies that add to her latest collection.  Today I have used the new mini snowflake background which, again, is great for smaller or batch cards, believe it or not this is a small card form me just being 14x14cm.

I stared by die cutting the background in coconut white foundation card I then mounted it onto another piece of coconut white onto which I had added sheet of A4 double sided adhesive sheet.  I rubbed iced snow over all the exposed adhesive area to add a bit of bling.  To colour the piece I brushed on Phil Martins new Frosty Sky mica powder.  This coloured the iced snow and I shaded the piece by adding more mica powder at the edges.

I wrapped a strip of blue white seam binding around the topper and added a bow made from twine (from my stash) and a felt flower made using the classic folder flower die from Sue Wilson for creative expressions.  To make the card I embossed a piece of coconut white foundation card using the snowflake mask form that special touch and added frosty sky gilding wax over the snowflakes so they 'pop'.  This is layered with cobalt foundation card and added to a layer embossed with the frosty swirls embossing folder.  Finally I added Let It Snow form the previous release which I cut from card with the adhesive and added the mica to make the sentiment shine (which it does in real life honest!)

A smaller car for me however you could make a larger one or, again as yesterday, make your batch cards simply using this die on its own to cut a beautiful aperture into pre-folded cards.

Ingredients:
Creative Expressions Craft dies by Sue Wilson
Mini snowflake background
Classic folder flower
Let It snow
That special touch snowflake mask (available form Julia Watts online shop)
Phill Martin Cosmic Frosty Sky range

Joy to the World...New Dies

Happy Monday,

I hope you have all seen the launch of Sue Wilson's 10 new festive dies over on her blog Particraft?  These are a stunning addition IMHO, to the festive collection so I thought I would show a few cards made using them over the next few days.

To start with I thought I would share the Joy to the world die card I made, as you know by now I love the idea of having a die that will make more complex and batch cards for Christmas I think this is perfect for that!

I stared by die cutting the joy to the world die in coconut white foundation card, I cut a larger 2cm bored all the way round and whilst still in the die I inked through using scarlet woman colour cloud blending ink.  I foam mounted this over a piece of rich red card to which I had added double sided adhesive sheet and Iced Snow.

next I added a few layers of coconut white and rich red embossing the final white layer with the new holly lattice A4 embossing folder.

To decorate the card I stamped the shaded poinsettia stamp to die for, designed by me as sue revealed on her blog, in perfect medium onto rich red card and heat embossed it with true white detail embossing powder.  I stamped 2 of each size and cut them out with the matching die before pinching the petals to make a 3D flower in each size.  I added a pearl embellishment in the centre and a bow tied with black cord (both from my stash).

I finished with a couple of stick pins I made form Sue;s stick pin elements set and some stick on pearl swirls for that extra opulence!  This card could, honestly, be simplified for batch cards.

Ingredients:
Creative Expressions Craft dies by Sue Wilson
Joy to the world background
classic poinsettia
Shaded poinsettia stamp to die for set
rich red, coconut white & Black foundation card
Cosmic Shimmer true white detail embossing powder
stick pin elements with scarlet teardrop beads
pearl swirls

Updated I will run a comment game to win one of my Christmas backgrounds from tomorrow!

winner at last!

Happy Sunday Evening!

I'm really Really sorry but I thought I'd pressed publish on this post last night!  It took ages to work it all out - see below - so I just pressed publish and went to bed!  Due to a striking cold I didn't check any emails till just now to find that I hadn't posted it so sorry.  To make up I will run a competition, easier to enter this time, next week to win one of the background stamps .

Happy Saturday,

It has taken ages to work out who to enter into the draw checking all the comments for last week and can i say firstly thank you so much for all the wonderful comments!  I would love to say there is a consensus on which card each day was the favourite but you all seem split down the middle!  The one thing I really learnt was that Black is not off the agenda for loads of you at Christmas.  I'm really happy with this as I love to use black in my Christmas cards if only for that bit of drama!

back to the thing we all want to know and the winner.  I used Random.org and gave everyone who commented on all posts a number form 1 to 63 and the selected winner was number 5 which is...

Lynda Mellor! - also known as Loopy Linda ?!?

Lynda if you want to email me on Lockers@Live.co.uk and tell me which one of the sets and which background you would like I will post them out to you (include your address as well please!)

Take Care and thank you again for the wonderful comments and continued support!

John xxx

Bonus Backgrounds...

Happy Sunday,

I thought I would finish off the week with a simple shot of 2 more card made with the background stamps form my 12 days of christmas range.  The first is such and easy card and would make great cards for batch making or for selling!

I simply stamped the 12 days square onto coconut white card, mounted it onto red and added it to a square I stamped with the sentiments form the 12 days and partridge sets.

The second card is really easy!  I made a hand cut card blank in vintage gold at 12 x 12 cm and simply stamped the pear square onto it with prefect medium.  I added true white detail embossing powder and heat set it.  it doesn't get any easier!

These background stamps are available from Create and Craft.tv this week and should be available in shops in the next week or so...

Enjoy...

To make I simply glued the poinsettias, ivy and some bakers twine onto the wreath.

12 Days, Last Day...

Happy Friday,

Its the last day of the stamp giveaway remember just leave a comment telling me which is your favourite of today's cards to be i the draw!  I thought you might like ti see a couple of yesterdays show samples (and a demo piece) in more detail.

The first card is made using the Partridge in a pear tree stamp set, although it looks complex this is a simple card tout together.  I stared by stamping the main partridge square in jet black archival ink onto a square of coconut white foundation card in one corner.  Next I stamped three of the pears and one of the partridges (these come as separate elements in the stamp set) in jet black on rich red foundation card.  Next I fussy cut these out and foam mounted them on the partridge and hanging in the pear tree.

Next I added dots of white PVA pearl randomly over the whole piece to represent snow.  I tend a simple strip of the scarlet ribbon and red white bakers twine down the opposite side. I tied a knot in the two and added a large silver dazzler in the centre.

The second card was done as a demo on the first show yesterday, if you want to catch up with it then you can HERE on the create and craft website (shows are available to watch on catch up for 7 days)

This was made using the brand new Christmas mica watercolour palette form Cosmic Shimmer.  This sold out on the show however it will be back!
