White Snowflakes...

Happy Friday,

Another card made using the Amy Design Snowflake Swirl die  (Find It Media ADD10122)

To make today's version of the card I added silver gilt sheets to a piece of card covered in my double sided adhesive.  I then embossed the piece using my snowflake circle embossing folder.

Next I layered a circle of silver mirror card over a circle of white pearl card.  I adhered the snowflake swirl die cut around the edge of the circle with silver snowflakes and crystals sprinkled over the die cut.  Finally I added the seasons greetings cut with the Press Cut die in white pearl card.

Finally I added layers of silver mirror card with white pearl card embossed with the crafts too falling snow embossing folder.  A few crystals in each corner and finished.

Flying Santa...

Happy Thursday,

The same die as yesterday however a different treatment today I've used it round an oval rather than a circle and this time in gold and white.

I stamped the centre panel using my Christmas Scene and festive silhouettes clear stamp sets in gold Izink pigment ink pads.  To get the gold so strong I used the press to impress which allowed me to layer the gold on three times to get the intensity.

I mounted this behind an oval aperture, cut with the press cut stitch dot ovals which I had embossed with the crafts too falling snow embossing folder.  I added the snowflake die around the aperture in gold and topped this with the same cut in white.  I added back the snowflakes that fall away in gold with pearls on top.  I used different sizes of pearls around the remainder of the oval.
I added a bow of gold cavort and thin white satin ribbon with one of the snowflakes in the centre.

I made up the card as shown with layers of white, gold glazed white ( new card available on Hochanda on the 30th November) and gold card.

Silver Flakes...

Happy Wednesday,

I seem to have fallen for the combination of silver and white for this Christmas ( perhaps with a ,title duck egg or aqua) so heres another card made in the combination.

I stared by cutting the scentre form a piece of white card which I then embossed with my Rustic frame embossing folder.  I added a layer of silver mirror card with acetate behind.

I then added the new Amy Design (Find It Media) Snowflake swirl die ADD10122. Cut in Silver mirror card which really work for these fine die cuts.  I added crystals on the spots on the embossed image and along the corner.  I then made a frame using the pre-cut Plain and stitch doe squares.

The sentiment is form my Christmas scene clear stamp set and is stamped in izink silver pigment ink I placed this behind the acetate and added snow on the acetate with a white gel pen.

Shiny, Shiny, Shiny...

Happy Tuesday,

Another mantelpiece pleaser for todays card using the Press Cut hexagons a die set I bought ages ago but never got round to using, how daft am I? lol

I started by making the shiny glittery snowflake in the centre of the card I used the silver Izink Texture paste through my Elegant snowflakes mask and stencil set.  I removed the mask then added clear glitter over the top this turns the texture paste into a raised glitter paste I love having different uses for products and as the Izink texture paste is a different formulation it is strong and flexible enough to hold the glitter!

I then framed the piece suing the press cut hexagons, what I love about this set is that the dies are really close together meaning I don't need 2 sets to make an even set of mats and layers.  I cut the top layer in white and then embossed it using the crafts too falling snow embossing folder.  I used the next 2 dies in the set to frame the frame using silver glitter card.  I then used the next 2 to cut a frame using silver mirror card.

I mounted this set onto a set of hexagonal layers cut with the largest dies in the set in silver mirror and white.  I then added this to a base of white, silver finishing with silver glitter card.  I finally added a snowflake, cut with the press cut snowflakes set, cut in glitter card with a smaller snowflake cut in mirror card on top.  A few crystals in white ( from Habico at the Art of craft)

Gloss and Gold...

Happy Monday...

Fabulous weekend in the north looking forward to (edit I meant Returning! lol) retiring next year!

Todays card uses the Gold gilt sheets with just black and white to make a bold and confident card for today.

I started by adding gold gilt metal sheets to a piece of card covered in my double sided adhesive sheets.  I then die cut a circle in the centre and debossed the piece using the snowflake circle embossing folder.

Next I added ranger black gloss accents around the circle adding acetate behind the piece to make something to hold the snow in!

I added a panel behind the acetate with an embossed piece of white using the winter trees embossing folder.  I added snow over this and 2 deer cut in black gloss card before sealing this all with foam tape.

I added a further black gloss ( Pearl gloss card from Limetree crafts) on the front looking through the window.

I made up the card as shown using layers of embossed white, bright gold and black gloss.

Red Wreath...

Happy Sunday,

It's technique day here in Swainby so we will be trying out the media plate techniques as well as some stamping, die cutting and embossing folder techniques.

Todays card is quite simple, which I always try to show on a sunday, using just the Build a wreath clear stamp set and some wired satin ribbon ( I am a ribbon addict having hundreds of different ones!)

I used my Press to Impress and the whole wreath stamping this in light green.  I then stamped over this using the quarter opine bough stamp in a darker green finishing with the leaves and berries quarter stamp in a honey colour ( All Izink dye based ink pads)

I then added poinsettias over the top and berries in raspberry.

Finally I made up the card as shown using the notched square dies form press cut along with a wired ribbon bow and pearl centre courtesy of Wendy!

Bright Snowflakes...

Happy Saturday,

Today is the first day of my Northern workshop and technique classes at Swainby Im really looking forward to it!

Todays card is a little bright but I really like the mix of spearmint and white and who doesn't like to see father christmas flying!

I stamped the centre element using my build a wreath clear stamp set using the press to impress to repeatedly stamp the wreath around the ring in different colours.  I stamped this in the Izink pigment ink pads so I was able to add glitter clear embossing powder to the image and heat set it to add some sparkle.

\I cut this out, after stamping the sleigh, using a circle die and made mats and layers in white and black to accent the centre panel.  I added a bow of striped ribbon with matching colours to the top with long tails trailing down.

For the main card I letterpressesd the snowflake circle embossing folder, der using aqua izink pigment ink adding clear embossing powder over this and ranger aqua gloss accents in the centre of selected snowflakes.

I made pop the card as shown to focus in the centre.

soft blue snowflakes...

Happy Friday,

A real mix of stamping, media plates and die cutting today with a  bit of letter pressing thrown in!

I stared by making the stamped bauble using the bauble media plate, izink pigment inks and just one stamp from the Christmas Scene clear stamp set.

I then cut this out and matted and layers it using the press cut plain and stitch dot circles.  I added a bow of light blue lace with pearl swirls and a velum poinsettia.

For the background I added a light blue izink pigment ink to my snowflake circle embossing folder.  I then embossed this to remove most of the ink to get the faded look I spritzed a piece of card with water then embossed the piece with the same folder.  This removed the last pale ink making a really soft and dreamy background to the white snowflakes.

I made up the card as shown.

Follow that star...

Happy Thursday,

A white on white card today using the gold lustre card along with white to make a different tonal look.

I stared by letterpressing the snowflake circle embossing folder with silver pigment ink pad from izink.  Once letterpresses I added clear embossing powder and heat set it to make the silver shine.

I then embossed circle of the gold lustre card and added the trees and star over the top both shadowed in silver mirror card.
I added a larger mat of the gold lustre again embossed at the back adding layers of white and silver mirror card along with a bow, star and crystals.

All that glitters...

Happy Wednesday,

Today's card uses the letterpress technique with a little added extra!

Its not very visible in the pictures but in real life this card sparkles with glitter.

I added izink navy blue pigment ink to my snowflake circle embossing folder and letterpresses a pice of card.  AS I used pigment ink I was able to add clear sparkle embossing powder over the card when removed and heat set it.  This gives a clear shine and sparkle only in the background allowing the snowflakes to star out in the original white card.

I added stamped sentiment in the centre made using my Christmas scene clear stamp set and surrounded it with foliage cut in blue and silver.

I finished the card as shown.

Not for posting...

Happy Tuesday,

Today's card is called not for posting as this would be an expensive card to post.  It can be posted as I took it to the NEC with not damage however it is quite deep!

I stared by cutting the poinsettia ) a find it media die) in lustre print glaze gold card by Crafts Too - I will have this card on my next show on Hochanda on the 30th November - The die cuts three sizes of poinsettia in each pass so i cut the die all over a sheet of A5 card to make many flowers.

Next I cut a wreath shape using 2 of the stitch dot circles.  I used this as a base and added the f,loded and shaped flowers around this with crystals in the centre.  This make the wreath the perfect size and round which is difficult without a base. I added this over a piece of scrap I had stamped with silver pigment ink and embossed.

Next I added a bow using wire edged ribbon, well if you are going for depth might as well have it! with another star buckle from Craft Consortium in the centre.

I made up the card as shown using layers of white and the gold lustre each embossed with my star stream embossing folder all layers with silver mirror card.

Silver tree...

Happy Monday,

Hopefully today I am having a nice relaxing day off after 4 days at the NEC in Birmingham though I will probably be tidying the craft room!

Today's card utilises a piece left over from a previous demo which I made using my Winter Trees clear stamps et and the circular media plate.  I simply added a piece of my double sided adhesive over the image and added clear glitter to add some shine. I then mounted this onto a die cut mirror card circle before a panel of gold dust card embossed with my star stream embossing folder.

I added this to a card embossed wit the same folder with a piece of wired ribbon ( bought from Mrs Duck) folded down the side.  I finished with a spray of poinsettias cut in white velum and finished with a  pearl.

Glittering Snowflakes...

Happy Sunday,

Last day of the NEC today I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who came along and said hello I love meeting so many members of my blog family both all and new!

Todays card is using my elegant snowflakes mask and the Izink texture paste the amazing thing is this paste is so flexible that it will adhere glitter as well!

I used the silver Izink texture paste through one of the snowflakes in the elegant snowflakes mask then I added iridescent white glitter over the top.  Once dry the glitter is stuck to the paste in the design and is a flexible as the paste on its own.  I haven't had time to try yet but hopefully this will work on fabric as well hopefully washable?!?

I framed these with the press cut hexagons using silver mirror and white card using 2 of the dies from the set.  The brilliant thing about these is that the dies are thin allowing nice thin borders between pieces cut meaning you don't need 2 sets to make perfect mats and layers.

I embossed the top white layer using the crafts too falling snow embossing folder and added a large messy bow in the centre.  I made up the bow to be a focal point in the centre using satin edged organza ribbon ( I should have this on my next Hochanda show) with a Craft Consortium star buckle in the centre.

Snowflake and Stars...

Happy Saturday,

Day 3 at the NEC I hope all this that have been at the show have had as much fun as I have!

I started by using the Izink silver texture paste through my Elegant snowflakes mask onto a piece of
acetate and left this to dry ( on acetate approx 2 hours)

I framed this using a square frame made with the stitch dot squares and matching straight squares with the Crafts Too star border cut four times in silver mirror card.  I then foam mounted the acetate and added some white glitter inside before adding white glitter card on the back.

Next I cut the crafts too snowfall in silver mirror card and the smaller snowflake, from the same set, in white and added these on each corner of the frame.

I made up the card as shown using more layers of white, silver and black ( colours I seem to have a liking for this year)

Deer in the Snow...

Happy Friday,

Today is the second day of the NEC craft show It was so lovely to meet so many of my blog family yesterday and I am looking forward to welcoming more crafters into the John Next Door family today!  Pop along and say Hi if you are going I am on stand G45 next to the Hochanda studio.

Today's card is another using all the techniques and products I will be demonstrating.

I made the centre panel using then heart shaped media plate and a mix of Izink Pigment and Dye based ink pads.  We have a new mini version of the ink pads available at the show which I have loved playing with as they are so easy with the media plates.

I stamped the snowflakes over the background and added snow with my quarto snow and stars mask.  I then stamped the deer and the pine tree silhouette stamps over this.  I then added acetate over this which I had added white gel pen to to add the snow before adding the layers in white, gold and letterpresses gold embossed card.

I cut the find it media pine trees in black and added them at the bottom corner of the set of frames I had made up to reflect and balance the trees on the centre panel.

I added another piece of snow acetate behind this before adding to the layers of white black and gold to make up the card.
